hahah, i kid i kid, the world still has issues with anorexia. okay, no jokes, i know it's a very serious matter. but i think we're slowly but surely on our way to fixing some of the unnecessary influences of that issue.
most of us get caught up in the media, i know i do. i'm like dang if i had megan fox's body, i'd be set for life. hahaha. i personally think she looks healthy and what not, but like little girls--i know a lot of them look at too skinny models or like >> remember when lohan or richie was like a size negative five million??? not just little girls, but even women look at that and i know some of them are like i wanna look like that and the way they go about that is turning to anorexia. i think usually once we grow up, we learn the negative influences the media has on us and really understand it. but especially for a lot of younger girls, i don't think they really grasp the idea that they are beautiful in their own skin. {a reason i love the dove campain, that everyone is gorgeous the way they are}.
anywho... models. one of my very very favorite's is chanel iman. but mannnn does the girl have skinny skinny legs. sometimes she doesn't look that healthy. sadface! now fashion is taking a step, a little one, but a step nevertheless to help that a little bit. Alexandra Shulman, editor of british vogue, is trying to enforce change in the size of clothes being sent to them for photoshoots. she said that they have even retouched models to look bigger! imagine that! that's great! i don't think they'll ever retouch them to the average woman size, but i think it's better than a size zero right??! i'd love to see healthy looking models, but i'd rather see the average size being represented more than anything. okay so, apparently the designers are the ones to send in clothes that are super small to magazines or whatever for photoshoots. so that doesn't really give the magazines a say in what size they get since the clothes are made way before they hit the stores, so there isn't any choice in exchanging sizes or anything like that... so they have to cast models that fit the clothes given... well that's why shulman spoke out.
"We have now reached the point where many of the sample sizes don’t comfortably fit even the established star models.”
now this is all going on in the UK, but i hope it applies for the US too. we need it! i thought this was a great thing so i just wanted to speak on it and share it with you guys. sure she's only one person saying hey, let's get it together; things need to change... but she's a pretty important one person and i hope designers understand the good change she is trying to bring. unfortunately, i don't think they are very happy about it. i mean i get that if they have certain measurements, etc. set--it's more than a hassle to change everything... but if it's hard to fit models... how is it gonna fit regular people??
quick story: one time i was at walmart buying fabric right... (yeah it's cheap there, i loves it) and this lady was around that area, and she was asking me what i was buying fabric for. so i told her i was trying to experiment and make some dresses and what not. she was like ooohhhh, that's great!!! i told her i wasn't really any good, but i was trying. she was like can i ask you one thing?--are you gonna make stuff my size?? (she wasn't even big). i was like imma have clothes in all sizes! she was like gooooood, cause we like cute stuff too!!! she was like well remember me when you're famous. & aww, that freakin touched my heart!!! i was like this lady believes in me, she's probably faking it all, but hey i'll take it!!| i don't know. me just talking about sizes and clothes made me think of that story. and i've heard larger women complain that there's limited cute stuff in their sizes and i think that's a shame. now i say that without knowing what all goes into making a really good range of sizes, but if i had the means to do it (have a clothing line), i'd def try to suit a good variety of sizes. :)
okay i'm done with my serious topic of the day! sorry i rambled so much. appreciate it if yall real this whole thing!!! and if you didn't that's cool too, i'm just glad yall are at the blog.
have a great day babes! and everyone, tell the women in your life that they're beautiful! sometimes we need to be reminded. ;) & i won't be sexist--tell the men in your life they're beautiful too. hahaha. or maybe like... something along those lines. complements go a long way. :) aw, i used to try to complement at least one person a day. dang, imma get back to doing that.
